Graphic of Unitarian Universalist values
Our shared values

We offer a variety of programs for children and youth that focus on spiritual growth, social justice, and building community. Our programs help nurture children’s understanding of Unitarian Universalist values while they explore different faith traditions. Our goal is to encourage them to develop their own beliefs and values.

Core Elements

Sunday Morning Programs: We offer age-specific classes for children during Sunday services, often including nursery care for babies and toddlers.

Curriculum: Programs like Tapestry of Faith and Chalice Children provide engaging lessons, stories, activities, and discussions.

Unitarian Universalist Values: Children learn about our shared Unitarian Universalist values. Classes use age-appropriate language and emphasize values like respect, fairness, and the importance of individual freedom.

Social Justice: Our programs include opportunities for children to participate in social justice activities. These age-appropriate activities help them to learn about community issues. Ultimately, many of our kids engage in service projects.

Inter-generational Activities: We incorporate inter-generational learning experiences, bringing children, youth, and adults together for worship, learning, and service.

Youth Groups: Older children and teenagers have opportunities to connect with their peers, participate in leadership development, and engage in social action projects.

Our Whole Lives (OWL):

OWL is a comprehensive, age-appropriate sexuality education program developed in partnership with the United Church of Christ. This class is taught by trained instructors when there is enough demand for it.

Why Our Youth Programs Are Important

Our programs help children to develop a sense of wonder. They get to explore their own beliefs and connect with something larger than themselves. They encourage social responsibility. Our kids learn to be compassionate, ethical, and engaged citizens who work for a better world.

We create a welcoming and inclusive environment where children can connect with others. They build friendships, and feel a sense of belonging. Most importantly, we provide opportunities so kids can develop leadership skills, make their voices heard, and participate in shaping the future of the faith.
