There was a time when some Unitarian churches closed during the summer months under the theory that folk needed a rest after fighting against society’s ills for nine months. Now that the church year has begun, we hope to fortify ourselves and others for the work ahead.

We will recognize Juneteenth, which honors the date the Emancipation Proclamation was signed. This document called for the emancipation of the last remaining enslaved African Americans in the Confederacy.
