Dr. Nancy Baker, retired NMSU professor, will discuss “Homelessness in Las Cruces”.

None of Camp Hope’s residents planned on being homeless and their experiences are a clear example that many of us are just steps away from losing our homes, jobs, and security.
During her years teaching in the NMSU Government Dept, Nancy and her students were very active in social justice issues in our community. Currently, Nancy is secretary of the Community of Hope’s Development Committee, and one of the co-organizers of the campaign to raise funds for their “Tents to Rents” project. She will provide information about this project which helps the homeless rise from tents to renting their own apartments and becoming self sufficient again.

The Community of Hope has invited our church to participate in their annual “Tents to Rents” campaign. As a participant, we have the opportunity to literally help change someone’s life. Our Social Justice Committee has accepted the challenge for us, and is spearheading our drive. We know you too care about this community. That’s why we’re asking you to be part of this popular, annual event and help change someone’s life.

  • We have committed to raising $1,000.

The fundraiser runs from Sept. 15 to Oct. 27. During this period, please donate to our Tents to Rents fund. It’s easy to give — click on Give at the top right of our website and select Tents for Rents.
