While the rise of better technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI) could result in a more productive and efficient world, it could also eliminate jobs, increase inequality and suppress wages. A universal basic income would provide all citizens with the money needed for survival, as AI takes over more of the nation’s jobs. Some northern European nations and Canada are examining this alternative. We will examine the Pro and Cons of this idea. It would be similar to having Social Security for all adult citizens below a certain income level.
