Irene Oliver-Lewis is the presenter. Irene grew up and still lives in an historic Mesquite Street compound that was developed by her grandparents and will share photos and stories about the history of the neighborhood and the influence her parents, Fred and Cecilia Oliver, had on her cultural and artistic professional life.
The Mesquite Street Historic District is the neighborhood of the original Las Cruces town site of 1849. It is on the national register of historic properties and is considered the most intact adobe neighborhood from Brownsville, Texas to Baja, California. It is recognized as part of the Camino Real de Tierra Adentro, the historic Spanish Royal Route from Mexico City to Santa Fe.
