The Tombaugh Gallery presents the Alazan Artists, a group of impressionist painters, in an exhibit opening Sunday, September 11, 2016.  An opening reception will be from 11:30 am – 1: 30 pm.

The Alazan Artists group takes its name from the Old Alazan Ranch in Big Bend, Texas owned by one of its members, Waynell Strachan.  In 2009, Nina Walker led an art workshop at the ranch.  The workshop was such a good experience for its members that they formed the Alazan Artists.  Its members decided to hold a show and sale of their works.  They have been showing together annually ever since in El Paso.  Most of the group’s artists paint in an impressionistic style using an impasto technique.  They all share a love of the vibrant colors of the world around them.  The group members participating in this show are Phyllis Davis, Trish Lopez, Sandra Martin, Joann McElroy, Marilyn Mendeloff, Lois Bourgon, Anne Spier, Ilene Steele, Nina Cobb Walker and Sandy Young.

The Tombaugh Gallery is located inside the Unitarian Universalist Church, 2000 S. Solano, Las Cruces, NM and is open Wednesday – Saturday 10 am – 2 pm.  The exhibit continues through October 21.  For details, call Ilene Steele at 575-449-4180.
