The Tombaugh Gallery’s April and May exhibit “Pushing the Edge” opens Sunday, April 3, featuring over 20 fiber artists from the Mesilla Valley Weavers. The exhibit runs through Friday, May 21, 2016, with two opening receptions and a fashion show.
The theme, “Pushing the Edge,” reflects the evolving nature of the group over recent years. We have changed from a traditional “weavers only” group to a community which welcomes textile artists of all types and embraces nontraditional methods and designs.
This exhibit is an opportunity to challenge our members to create new works and grow artistically, either by thought provoking designs or exploration of new techniques.”
One special feature of the exhibit will be a fashion show of colorful wearable art on Saturday May 7, starting at 2:00pm. Mesilla Valley members will display fiber arts of their creation. The fashion show items will be new and different from the art in the exhibit.
