Shape Note Singing

This morning we welcome back Shape Note Singers for our annual summer service with them. This group practices regularly at our church and includes members from our congregation and other singers as well. Shape note notation has been used in the U.S. for the past two centuries, initially in New England and later in the South.  Whether you are familiar with this tradition or not, come and join this lively and interesting singing and/ or listening worship experience. Join us for a service in which we share and celebrate Shape Note, or Sacred Harp, singing, with Eric Morgan, the Hand Family, and our UU Shape Note singers.  This style of singing, and the Sacred Harp Hymnal, have been part of our American democracy for generations.  Come to listen and sing!
