UU University 2009

21st Century Best Practices for Our Congregations

Nine hours of General Assembly (GA) programming in Salt Lake City was dedicated to Unitarian Universalist (UU) University. Six tracks of widely different programming were offered. Even if you were able to attend the 2009 General Assembly, there was no way you could be in six places at once. UU University tracks ran concurrently during GA so here is your chance to see what it was all about.

If you’re interested in Stewardship, you’ll want to look at Stewardship as Transformational Ministry.

  1. Our church is currently developing a 12-month stewardship program.  Persons who are interested in stewardship or who might want to work in the developing Stewardship Committee should read Stewardship as Transformational Ministry.
  2. Families and multigenerational programming, see Ministry Across the Generations.
  3. Multiculturalism is a developing focus in our church and it’s discussed in Creating Welcoming Multicultural UU Communities.
  4. Strong, growing churches require good leadership, which is discussed in Lighting the Leadership Chalice.
  5. Important Social Action information will be found in Justice and Congregational Mission.
  6. If you serve in the Sunday Services Committee, you’ll probably be interested in Theology for a Secular Age.

Each track was developed and led by some of the top leaders in our Association and provided opportunities for in-depth exploration of each topic. Reflection, activities, and methods to engage many different learning styles were used to assure that the programs spoke to GA participants of all ages, with all levels of experience of Unitarian Universalism, and from congregations of all sizes.

Each track is developing a Materials and Resources page to help the conversation and learning continue through out the next year.
