50-50-50 Program

The 50-50-50 Program was an especially creative initiative conducted during the 50th anniversary of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Las Cruces. It exemplifies the congregation’s commitment to social action. The goal of the program was to inspire 50 people to work 50 hours of community service, or donate $50 to organizations listed in a Program Directory containing more than a hundred service opportunities. The church exceeded its goals.

As Reverend Nancy Anderson said in her letter of introduction to the 50-50-50 Program Directory,

We are a church whose mission is to live and to spread our Unitarian Universalist values in the world.

This project gave us a wonderful opportunity to make our light shine in the greater community.  As Reverend Anderson said,

Your participation in the 50-50-50 Program is but one way that we, as a  church, can let others know who we are and what we stand for. In another 50 years, we can look back and say, <q><em>This is how we made a difference.
