May 11 THE POWER OF
INSTITUTIONS:
JOEL BROWN
, Rev.
JUDITH WALKER RIGGS, JIM MILLER:
Institutions, whether public or private, are
the vehicles for change in our society. Although we as
individuals are where change begins, it must wind up in an
institution or it is lost. Our church allows us to
express our desire for change in the community, the nation and
the world with the power of an institution. Supporting this
particular institution requires a serious commitment of time and
resources, but it also requires a philosophical commitment.
That commitment means trusting others and letting go of some of
cherished routines, structures and organizational ideas. In
this service we will talk about commitment and change within our
institution, our church.
The overall theme for services May 18 - Jun 29
is "We Can Take the Richness of Our Past to Create a Future that is
Stronger, More Beautiful and More Just.
" Each of the services over this time
period will focus on some aspect of creating the future we dream of.
The Worship Planning team, along with Rev. Nancy J Anderson, is
Debbie LaPorte, John Northcutt, Kris Northcutt and
Barbara
Hall.
