Social Action
Committee Purpose Statement
The purpose of the UUCLC Social Action Committee is three-fold:
-
To provide awareness and education about social issues related to promoting the
values and principles of the Unitarian Universalist faith,
-
To provide opportunities to the members and friends of the UUCLC to engage
in those activities that promote these values and principles, and
-
To demonstrate these values and principles to the wider world, especially in our
local community of Las Cruces.
We envision a local community and world free from oppression and injustice,
where all can realize their full human rights. Our local actions are connected
to study/action issues of the national UUA Commission on Social Witness.
Mission of the UUA Commission on Social Witness
The mission of the
Commission on Social Witness is to help Unitarian
Universalists put our [UUA] Principles and Purposes into
action, and to assist congregations and the Association
express concern for social justice through the study,
articulation, and action taken relative to current social
justice issues identified by the congregations across the
country.
