Additional Religious Education Programs

The religious education program offers several programs outside of the usual Sunday morning experience.

Coming of Age (COA)

We invite youth grade age 9th-12th to participate in a Coming of Age program. This program is the Unitarian Universalist rite of passage for our youth. What do I believe? How will I find my place in the world? How shall I live my life? What, why and who matters to me? These questions and more will be explored as we shepherd our youth into an uncertain future. Other components of the program include mentoring, family participation, community affirmation, empowering story and stretching. Please contact the Director of Religious Education for times and dates for this program.

Our Whole Lives (OWL)

Our Whole Lives is a Unitarian Universalist faith and values based sexuality curriculum offered in age-appropriate lessons with Unitarian Universalist-trained adult leaders as teachers. The cornerstone of the program is intended for youth in grades 7 through 9. OWL is also offered for K-1 and grades 4 through 6. Contact the Director of Religious Education for more details.

Feasts and Festivals

Adult religious education program introducing major world religions through celebration and ritual. Discover which ideas and theologies speak to you. Explore ways to include diversity into your family celebrations, milestones and passages. Begins in October, Sundays at 9:15-10:30AM childcare and light breakfast included.

Parenting Support Group

This group meets Sunday mornings and includes a light breakfast and childcare. Children's' ages and family concerns will dictate the program's contents and meeting times.

Parent in R.E.sidence

To further include our families and to improve communication between Sunday school and home we schedule every non-teaching team family two Sundays where they assist our teaching team members in the classroom. The schedules are mailed home in early fall. If you are new to our program, please speak with the director of religious education about your participation.

Tween Socials

Young teens are invited to a series of Friday night events. Games, movies, and food are all a part of the program. This year we will include a social action project of the group's choice.

Our Evolving Faith

Ours is an evolving faith and so is the religious education program. If you have ideas, questions or concerns about the program, please speak with the Director of Religious Education or any member of the Religious Education Committee.Committee members through November 2006 are Gale Morrow (Chair), Cheri Damschroder, Kamy Moonfoot Shaw, Cathy Small, Bruce Huhmann, Rose Wiseman, Lynn Hurd and Sarah Heartsong.
