OFFERTORY

This is a time to help people to be inspired to give to the church. People are not usually inspired to give genersouly to pay the bills, so mention the social and community outreach/support efforts of the church. These efforts require money. As with the lighting of the chalice, Service Associates are encouraged to create their own words to introduce the offertory. Words that tie in with the service or that relate to a recent outreach or support effort of the church are probably good choices.

Generally, the church keeps the paper money, while change is donated to a specific charity. Lauri will have this information. The Service Associate should recognize this charity by saying,“Any change placed in the baskets this morning will go to [the designated charity].

Catherine (or a guest musician) will usually play music to accompany the receiving of the offertory.
