Who We Are

The Membership Committee is comprised of Members and Friends of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Las Cruces.

Our Mission

Our mission is to welcome visitors, to orient newcomers who may wish to become members of the church, and integrate all members into the life of the church.

When We Meet

We meet on the second Wednesday of the month at 5:30 pm in the church library. Meetings are conducted by Chris Ramsey, the current committee chair.

Our Most Visible Projects

Coordinating greeting and ushering for each of our two Sunday worship services.

Biannual orientation classes for those considering membership in the Unitarian Universalist Church of Las Cruces. The classes provide a historical overview of the Unitarian Universalist movement, an introduction to the leadership, programs and activities of the church and an opportunity for newcomers to become better acquainted with each other and the church community.

Meet and Greet Dinners, New Member Mentoring Program, Extended Family Program, and New Member picnics and dinners.

You'll meet and get to know interesting people, help newcomers become meaningfully involved in the life of our church and you'll to use your own talents and time in ways that help us all live our Unitarian Universalist values and principles.

Why You Would Like To Be A Sunday Greeter

You can materially contribute to the pleasant church experience of our congregation and its visitors. Our greeters are often the first people a member or visitor meets when entering our church; they are the "face" of the church, as it were. We have received many compliments on the welcoming demeanor of our greeters and many of our members joined the congregation because they received a warm welcome and post-service follow-up. If you are new to our congregation, there is no better way to get to know people than chatting with them as they enter the sanctuary. On average, greeters serve at just one service, early or late, every other month. Some of our greeters elect to serve every month on a specific Sunday. The membership committee holds 2-3 Greeter Orientation Workshops every year and we provide detailed (but brief) Greeter Guidelines to everyone who serves the church in this capacity.
